I am so sad that Heri has gone on before I could see him again—too soon. He was a wonderful friend to me when I lived in Siegen in 1983-84. I was so lonely and homesick—and my German wasn't great, so it was hard to meet people and make friends. He welcomed me and was so kind, and I enjoyed his friendship for that whole year. He helped me navigate my day to day life, as well as sightseeing with me all over Germany. I have so many great memories from that time—all thanks to Heri. I'm glad we were able to connect through social media and stay in touch a bit these later years.
